The Head of the Cuyahoga Regatta is Tomorrow!
/The one day a year when the Cuyahoga River is closed to maritime traffic has arrived as Cleveland Rowing Foundation's Head of the Cuyahoga Regatta comes to Cleveland's waterfront from 8 am to 3 pm, Saturday, September 16th. Over 1,500 rowers from 59 clubs in 13 states and one Canadian province will experience the unique aesthetics of Cleveland's industrial shoreline.
Our ride-along with Saint Ignatius High School Crew last week gave us a front row seat view of what the scholastic, collegiate, and adult rowers will experience during tomorrow's racing (click here for the race schedule/heat sheet). Come down to Cleveland Rowing Foundation or hang out at Merwin's Wharf for a view of the festivities. Better yet, find yourself a bridge to spectate on! Columbus Road Bridge is a particularly solid choice as: 1) it's located at the end of the race 2) the sweeping turn can produce some tight passes as crews race for the line and 3) it's a short walk to Brick & Barrel Brewing, Hoopples, or Sainato's/Rivergate Tavern! The weather is going to be great for the last big event on the river before fall arrives.
