Two Years Ago We Were Standing on Lake Erie

Anyone visiting Lake Erie off Cleveland's coastline recently has noticed how much of an impact our unseasonably warm weather this winter has had. The shift in the jet stream that's disrupted sub-Arctic air from pushing south, allowing warmer Pacific air to flow over the Great Lakes has made an ice covered Lake Erie a fond memory.

Just two years ago yesterday hundreds enjoyed a stroll on the frozen lake as Case Western Reserve University's School of Engineering set up the Frostbites Cafe, a pop-up restaurant installed 1/4' mile from the edge of Cleveland Metroparks Edgewater Beach. Some intrepid souls even walked all the way out to the Cleveland Water Crib located appx. 3 1/2 miles from shore.

No chance of that happening this year!
