Happy Birthday Cleveland! Share the River's Photo Album for Our Ideastream Public Media Sound of Ideas Convo with Rick Jackson

Happy Birthday Cleveland! Today is the 225th anniversary of the founding of Cleveland when Moses Cleveland landed at the confluence of the Cuyahoga River and Lake Erie on July 22, 1796 while surveying the Connecticut Western Reserve!

As fate would have it, our founder, Jim Ridge, will be on Ideastream Public Media/WCPN/The Sound of Ideas to talk with pro’s pro Rick Jackson about the July 24 Blazing Paddles Paddlefest at Rivergate Park/Cleveland Metroparks Merwin’s Wharf/Cleveland Rowing Foundation. But the convo will also touch upon Cleveland’s (and Cleveland’s waterfront) history! Jim will open the show from appx. 9:04 to 9:25 am. You can stream this morning’s interview here. Jim starts the show at the top of the hour.

Since most folks will be listening on radio, we though we’d put together a digital scrapbook of historical and current images that will help flesh out Share the River’s pop-culture narrative that’s been a substantial part of our effort to promote the social, economic, and recreational vibrancy of Cleveland’s waterfront.

Blazing Paddles serves as a recreational tourism celebration of how Cleveland’s Cuyahoga River has risen like a phoenix since the 1969 fire ignited the global environmental movement. The comeback Cuyahoga River now serves as an economic driver for the region as developers follow the bike and pedestrian trails and parks spreading across the Cuyahoga River Valley, part of the Ohio & Erie Canalway National Heritage Area.

After you listen to this morning’s interview, be part of what will be a GREAT morning on Cleveland’s hard-working, historic & scenic Cuyahoga River by registering for the July 24 Blazing Paddles Paddlefest today!
